Social Impact
The microfinance industry in Iraq has grown in a challenging environment. Amalcom Foundation for Economic Development began its work by providing loans in late 2009, targeting both genders (men and women). To date, it has achieved 8,700 active borrowers, with the number of women's loans reaching 4,000 active borrowers. The main objective of targeting women is to develop their businesses and improve their standard of living and that of their families. The percentage of women has reached 46.04%, and achieving a high loan renewal rate is a tangible indication of project development, as the renewal rate has reached 27.24%.
